Watley, the Incredible Flying Dog

I took this picture of Watley earlier this morning. After watching the birds in our backyard from a window for about 15 minutes, Watley was getting really anxious - pacing back and forth, scratching at the door, barking, pacing, scratching, barking, etc. - I finally let him loose to chase the birds. Please notice, none of his feet are touching the ground.

I Am Officially Cool...Finally!

As I said before, Grant's birthday present for me hadn't arrived by my birthday. Well, it finally came, and it was exactly what I asked for...an iPod Nano! He even had it engraved for me (awww!). So I've been busy getting all my CDs downloaded onto my cool little iPod. I am SO cool!

Surprise! Sort of...

Yesterday was my birthday. It started out not being the greatest day ever...I wasn't working, but Grant was, so that meant that I was pretty much by myself for most of the day (except a few hours of babysitting in the morning). I went shopping, which is always good. We met with some guy about putting our house on MLS. I was supposed to go to dance class, but I just wasn't feeling like I wanted to go. Grant and I were going to ride together, because he had a meeting to go to at the same time as my class.

Well, when the MLS guy left, I told Grant I wasn't going to dance. He looked very upset. He proceeded to tell me that I "have" to go, and it would mean alot to him if I did. I then told him that it absolutely in no way had any sort of effect on him, whether I go to dance class or not. We kept this up for a minute or so, then finally he said, "But there's cake at Megan's house!" At this point, I think I had forgotten it was my birthday, so I was very confused, and had no idea what he was talking about. He went on to explain that he felt bad about him not being there all day for my birthday, and so he wanted to make it up to me by having a little spontaneous get-together with some friends. Well, I rushed around the house, and got ready for dance and my not-so-surprise birthday party.

I'm so glad I did. Summer and I had a great time at dance class, learning a new way-cool dance. Then the get-together at Megan and Andy's house was a blast. Summer and OJ were there, Megan and Andy (of course), SixBit and the kids came, and Pinky ended up coming, even though I didn't think she would be able to!

Pinky got me these beautiful sunflowers that had been dyed red. I put them in my vase, and they're just gorgeous! Summer got me a monkey sippy-cup, which is like the best present ever! Grant's gift is yet to be seen, so more on that later, but he did make sure the cake said "Happy 260th birthday," so thanks for that!

So, a big, big thank-you to Megan (who doesn't have a blog, but needs to start one!) for helping Grant plan this very spontaneous party, and for picking up the cake, and decorating her house, and putting out snacks. I had a great time, and that one hour made up for the rest of my day in a big way!

My Obsession

For old times sake, I decided to pop in *NSYNC's first album in the car stereo. It was a great decision, because I forgot how much I like their first CD! I was dancing and singing along all the way to the base today. People make fun of me for liking *NSYNC, and specifically JC Chasez, but I don't care. In fact, bring it on! It only makes my love for them deepen. When I'm 50, I will still dance whenever I hear "Tearin' Up My Heart" or "Bye, Bye, Bye" or any other fantastic song they have. If they have a reunion tour someday (I can only hope!), I will be there, on the front row, singing my little heart out. I only wish Grant could appreciate the joy that *NSYNC brings to my life whenever I hear them. But he doesn't. Instead, he shakes his head in disgust and threatens to burn my CD's.

So, I want to give a HUGE shout out to my boys in *NSYNC. I love you. I always have. I always will.

Viva! Las Vegas!

We just got back from our short little trip to Las Vegas. We drove there, which is only about an 8 hour drive. It was so great to see Grant's family! Being so far away from family can be hard, so I think trips like these are really a necessity. We had a great time together seeing all the sites, eating great food, and inviting random hotel janitors into our hotel room to teach us Spanish.

Watch out World!

Mrs. J and I had our first official hip-hop dance class last night. No jazz nonsense. Oh yeah, we're learning a routine, and the best part is that at one point in the dance, we get to be partners! It was much more fun than last week. My sister came to watch all of our goofiness. Needless to say, she was pretty entertained.

Arachnophobia

There was an incident a few years back that did me in. It was before Grant and I got married, and we were at his parents house. It was night, and he was walking me out to my car. While we were making our way through the garage, I saw this weird looking creature crawling right where we were about to walk. I stopped, and asked Grant to take a look at it. He said, "It's just a spider," and then proceeded to step on it (by the way, he was wearing a flimsy pair of flip-flops). As he squised this "creature" out came thousands of baby spiders, everwhere! Apparently, it was a wolf spider, carrying it's sac on it's back. That's why it looked so weird to us. Since then, after numerous nightmares, I have been terribly afraid of spiders - small, big, poisonous, non-poisonous. It doesn't matter.

A couple weeks back when Patrick and Jasmine were staying with us, I saw a little spider on the carpet. I grabbed some tissue to kill it with, knelt down, and could not bring myself to doing it. I was too scared. Thankfully, Patrick was there, so he saved me. This particular spider had red legs.

Just now, I was on my way upstairs. Usually, Watley follows me, but this time, he was preoccupied with something at the foot of the stairs. I went back down to see what he was playing with, and it was this same type of red-legged spider.

Since I was by myself, I got up the courage to pick up the spider, and flush it down the toilet (Watley had already killed it). You see, when I'm by myself, I can do these things, because the thought of that spider not getting taken care of right then and there, scares me the most.

So, just now, I decided to google "red legged spider" to see what I could come up with. Bad idea. All of these really scary images popped up, and now I can't get them out of my head, and I'm itchy all over, and I keep thinking I feel something crawling on me.

By the way, none of the pictures showed looked anything like the spider in our house. So, there's just some mystery spider that keeps coming into our house. And that doesn't make me happy!!

She's a Maniac...Maniac on the Floor!

Mrs. J and I started our summer hip-hop cardio dance class tonight. Which wasn't really hip-hop, because the regular teacher couldn't make it, so we had a sub, and she was really into jazz/aerobics.

The class was comical, to say the least.

I'm not sure what was funnier...the teacher throwing dance terms around like any of us had any sort of dance history (which none of us did) and the blank looks on our faces, as we try to figure out what she's talking about, or our reflections in the mirror as we attempted to dance.

The whole thing went so fast, it's kind of a blur. I'm sure there will be many blogging opportunities (and maybe pictures) that come up in the next 7 weeks as the class continues.
