Practicing...

Baby #2 is due around the middle of October!

Hugs and Kisses

Saturday night, some friends from church invited us over to their house for dinner. They have a 1 year old, named Peter.

Kendall's interactions with other kids usually involves her stealing toys from them, and then completely ignoring them. Not with Peter, though. From the moment they laid eyes on each other, they were each mesmerized.

Peter thought Kendall was pretty cool for walking all around, and Kendall thought his crawling was pretty cool, and reverted back to that for a bit.

They shared really well, too. Peter kindly gave up his favorite toy to Kendall, who held onto it the whole time we were there.

At one point, Peter was standing up, holding onto his mom's leg, and Kendall thought since they were finally at the same height she should just give him a big smacker! Her kisses always begin with kissing sounds when she's still several inches away from her target (kind of like a warning signal). I heard the kissing sounds, and looked over to find her hanging onto Peter, forcing a kiss on him. Well, with all of Kendall's forcefulness, Peter lost his balance and took quite the tumble, hitting his head on a cabinet. Kendall didn't quite understand why anyone would cry after receiving one of her famous kisses! But all was better in just a few minutes. She made sure to give him a few more kisses that night to make sure everything was okay.

I wish we had remembered our camera that night, but we didn't. Just know that it was all very, very cute.

Bakerella, Anyone?

I've recently been introduced to Bakerella's blog. More specifcally, to her cupcake pops. They were so cute from the pictures, that I became obsessed - OBSESSED - with trying them. Well, yesterday was the day, and I was so happy that they turned out!

Just a warning for those of you who might want to try these. Really, they're very easy to make, BUT they're VERY time consuming. Thankfully, I was able to get most of it done during Kendall's nap, and Grandma Betty kept her entertained while I finished them. But they look cute, and they taste great!

So here's a couple pictures. The first one is a batch waiting to dry, and the second one is what it looks like all packaged and pretty.

Bonnie Hunt Show Revisited

So, back in November I mentioned how I would be in the audience of The Bonnie Hunt Show. I never mentioned it again, and was just reminded of it a couple of days ago. Grant's mom is here visiting, and we still have the show recorded, so we were showing her the episode, since she missed it when it aired. Grant was being kind of annoying, and paused it when I was on the screen and took a picture. Do you see me?

Anyways, it was SO much fun, and I hope to do something like that again! The group that I was with (there were 4 of us) got seated in pretty crappy seats (top row all the way in the far corner), but during the segment when Bonnie was in the audience, I actually made it on screen quite a bit.

We walked away with a lot of free stuff, too! They told us before the show that we would, but we didn't know what we were getting until they actually mentioned it in the taping.

The first guests were an injured Army vet and his wife, and Bonnie announced that everyone in the audience was getting a $100 Sears gift card!

Jennie Garth was out next, and she designed a reusable shopping bag, so everyone in the audience got one of those.

Then Raven-Symone was on (remember her as Olivia from the Cosby Show?). Everyone got a best-of The Cosby Show DVD, which is super cool!

I guess Raven is into crafting, because at the end they did a little craft session, and announced that everyone would also be getting a Michael's gift card for $20!

The whole experience was just really cool - I loved seeing the set, and everyone behind the scenes, and just watching everything happen. I really recommend that to anyone who's coming to LA and can fit it in their schedule. There's so many shows taping all the time, I think it's fairly easy to get on one.

Pottery Barn style for less

I was in Pottery Barn the other day, drooling over all the beautiful things. I came across a table decorated for Easter, and it was just so interesting and creative! So, I started looking at prices for all the goodies, and realized that unless these things went on serious sale, I wouldn't recreate the look. Basically, on the dining room table, they had a vase with several cherry blossom stems in it, with colorful, sparkly easter eggs hanging from the branches.

The next day, I was at Michael's looking for something totally separate, and I found some colorful, sparkly easter eggs for a fraction of the price! They also had some sparkly mini eggs. So, then I was on the hunt for cherry blossom stems. Not only were they WAY cheaper than at Pottery Barn, but they were 50% off! I also bought a vase to put it all in.

All in all, I spent about $30 to almost exactly duplicate this Pottery Barn look that would have cost over $200 (which is just outrageous).

March Madness

No, not the NCAA tournament, silly! I'm talking about March Madness at Los Angeles AFB!

Grant's team made it into the playoffs, so we've been going to a few games. He'd been wanting to show Kendall how to play basketball, so last night, he finally got his chance!

Santa Monica!

Grant and I haven't been to Santa Monica since we were out here for my brother's wedding - almost 7 years ago. Ange (my friend that lives in Orange County) and her boyfriend (who was visiting from Michigan) were with us, so we made a big day out of it. Apparently, so did everyone else in LA - there were so many people there! But fun was had by all. Grant won Kendall a teddy bear, we all rode on the carousel, and we had fun on Muscle Beach.

Role Models

You'll have to excuse me, but I heard about this the other day, and it's really been bothering me.

Do you see anything wrong with Miley Cyrus' response to rumors about her and her boyfriend moving in together?

Miley Cyrus has brushed off reports she's planning to move in with model/singer Justin Gaston - insisting she's too independent to handle a live-in lover.

The 16-year-old has been dating 20-year-old Gaston since last year; their age gap sending gossips into a spin.

Although the Hannah Montana star insists their families have been supportive, Cyrus admits she's not ready to take the relationship to the next level.

She says, "I love him to death... but no... (Justin) is so smart, but just like, everything has to go where it's supposed to go and if it doesn't, I get really frustrated."

Shouldn't the typical response to something like this be, "Are you kidding me? I'm 16 years old!"

I'm not even looking for the stereotypical teen queen answer of, "I'm saving myself for marriage," because as we've seen with other girls who have said this, it usually proves false.

The girl is 16!!! She's treating this as though it could be true, but she's just too independent for it to happen, and age has nothing to do with it. She's lost all touch with reality.

Please, Lord, give us some better role models by the time Kendall is old enough to have them!

Yay!

Megan had baby #2 yesterday morning - 6 days early!! How crazy is that?

I got a call from her yesterday, and I immediately thought a few things...

1. I hope nothing's wrong.
2. I hope she's not trying to set up another Laguna Beach playdate this close to her due date.
3. There's no way she's had the baby yet. Joey was 5 days late, and this was still almost a week before her due date.

So, I was like, "Hey Megan, what's up?" And she said, "Well, I had a baby this morning!" And I'm pretty sure my response to that was, "What?" As in, "Yeah right, that's impossible." For some reason, I just had it in my head that babies just don't come early.

And since the sex of the baby was a surprise, I was happy to find out that it was a girl! Little Hannah Marie.

So check out her blog where there's already pictures, and join me in thanking God for an easy delivery and a healthy baby!

Spring has Sprung!

At least inside of our house! This week was supposed to be beautiful weather, and while today is beautiful, it's a wee bit chilly.

But, thanks to the $1 section at Target, we had some Springtime fun.

Check out my little model striking poses. She was really feelin' the flower.

But then she got annoyed at Mom for taking so many pictures, so the bunny ears weren't really cutting it for her. But it was fun while it lasted.

Birthday Party!

Kendall was invited to Austin's birthday party yesterday, and as you can tell from the video, she didn't have any fun.

I think we know what we'll be renting for her next birthday party!

We had a great time, and since this was the first time Kendall went to a friend's party, we weren't sure how'd she do, but she did great! Except for almost blowing out the birthday boy's candles.
