Yummy!

I think the best sandwich in the world is turkey with provolone cheese, miracle whip, tomato, and avacado. The only thing that would make it slightly better would be bacon.

Wacky Weather

The calendar said that the first day of spring was on Monday. Then why is it snowing more during "spring" than it did during winter?

My Brother, My Buddy

I've been trying to get more organized around the house, and a big part of that is getting all of my hundreds and hundreds of pictures in the same place, in some kind of order. So, I've been finding all these great pictures that I haven't seen in years. Some of which were of me and my big brother, Tony.

We are almost exactly 10 years apart (his birthday is the day before mine), but that hasn't stopped us from being extremely close. I've always looked up to him, even though he's the biggest redneck that I know, and even when he was sporting the fiercest mullet known to man. He's probably the coolest older brother a girl could have. He even rode a motorcycle, for Pete's sake!

I looked up to him so much, that when he came home one time from one of his cross-country truck driving expeditions with a tattoo that he got at Oceanfront Tattoo in Venice Beach in California, I vowed that I, too, would one day get a tattoo at Oceanfront Tattoo in Venice Beach, California, by a guy named German, who was Tony's tattoo artist. I was sixteen at the time. Years went by, and I always wanted to keep that "vow."

The day came. It was so perfect. I had graduated from PCC,

moved out of my parent's house, and was in LA for Tony's wedding. I couldn't turn my back on the promise I made to myself and to Tony so many years back. So, Grant and I took a bus to Santa Monica, walked from the Santa Monica pier to Venice Beach (which we didn't know was like 3 miles), and found Oceanfront Tattoo. I went in and asked for German. Nelson told me that German had gotten killed in a drive-by shooting about 2 weeks before. So, I settled for Nelson, and got my tattoo.

All that to say, that I value my relationship with Tony very deeply. I still and will always look up to him as the coolest older brother ever!

And again...

I went to Trader Joe's again yesterday, cause we were already out of the salsa! So, I stocked up on salsa, and also got some hummus and pita chips. I also found these beautiful asiatic lillies! I got 2 big bundles for only $6.45 each. I have more flowers than I know what to do with, but I figured out a cute way to arrange them. I used some glass votive holder thingies, and made cute little arrangements. Now, we have flowers all over the house, and I love it!

March Madness

I really could care less about March Madness. In fact, I almost dread it. Men all over the country become obsessed with who's in, who's out, brackets, and everything else associated with March Madness. I did fill out my bracket though, based on team colors, of course. The prettier the colors, the farther they went on my bracket! I'm kidding, obviously, but that's sure to get a rise out of my 2 male readers.

The other day, I was talking to Pinky on the phone. Grant was watching ESPN to find out who made the bracket. As soon as we started talking, Grant runs downstairs to turn on that TV, because he couldn't hear over my talking. Pinky said that Notorious did the same thing. Then, as soon as it was over, they both came back to the room we were in. I don't get the obsession, but whatever.

As far as filling out my bracket goes, Grant named the group name "FSU got snubbed." When I did a search for "FSU," I realized that there are similar group names--"FSU got screwed," "FSU got hosed," "FSU was shafted," and so on. I got a kick out of that. I guess Grant is not the only one who is very upset that FSU didn't make it.

Again, I could care less.

The daily rant

Can I just say, that I HATE coming up with a title for every post I make. I'm not that creative, so I end up spending more time just coming up with a clever title than I spend writing the actual post. I think I'm going to boycott titles from now on.

You know something else I don't like? Excercising, running, not eating any sweets, and anything else that goes along with me trying to get in shape. People always say how great they feel after they exercise. I don't feel great, I feel like I'm going to die! I CRAVE sugar, and I'm limiting myself to only 1 sweet thing per day. I am proud of myself for actually controlling my cravings, so that's the one positive thing about all of this.

I really hope all of this change in my lifestyle will pay off. Soon!

I think that's the end of my rantings for now. Thank you.

This is what I get...

Exactly 1 week ago, I was laying out in my backyard, trying to get an early start on my tan. On top of that, I was bragging to all my friends that live in cold places about the beautiful weather that we've been having.

I wake up this morning to at least an inch of snow, with it steadily coming down--no signs of stopping.

To my buddy

Thanks to Summer for introducing me to Design Sponge. Some of it is a little too modern for my taste, but overall, it's a very cool resource. Thank you, my dear beloved euchre partner!

Hello, Trader Joe!

Well, it finally happened. Trader Joe's opened in Albuquerque. Today was the big day, so I stupidly went, because I wanted very badly to get this salsa that OJ and Summer had from the TJ's in Santa Fe.

So, I made my way over to the eastside, all for this wonderful salsa. On the way, as I'm sitting at the stop light at Wyoming and Paseo del Norte, I heard a car honk next to me. I looked over, and the cute little old man waved at me to roll down my window. When I did, he asked me, "Do you know where that new store is--Trader Joe's?" I said, "I'm actually going there myself, follow me!"

That should have clued me in to the amount of people that were going to be there. It was completely packed! People were parking their cars in the Raley's parking lot across the street, and in the bank parking lot next door, and all down the sides of the road.

I took a chance, and went into the TJ's parking lot, and a car pulled out just in time for me to take the spot. It was meant to be!

So I found my delicious salsa and some other things, like avocados, organic cereal, Cliff bars. Waited in line for about 30 minutes, then paid for all my great finds.

I should've waited about a week or so, but I really wanted that salsa!

Tinkalicious

So, the old blog has a new look, thanks to my awesome online friend, Cheri (Tink). She designed this header for me, so she is now my designated blog-header-designer, whether she likes it or not!

My new obsession

For the past week or two, I've become obsessed with oranges. Yesterday I had 4, and today I've already had 2. Grant says I'm going to turn orange if I keep this up.

The good thing about this new obsession is that it's keeping me off of sugar, which is part of my "get skinny in time for Jenny's wedding in July" plan. Yesterday I had no "sweets" whatsoever! That's because everytime I wanted some, I grabbed an orange.

This is a HUGE achievement for me.

To Summer,

I have nothing to say. But I still managed to update the blog. Isn't that cool?

And I just realized, I'm such an accommodating person. First, Cheri asks me to update, so I did. Now, I'm updating for Summer. I'm a nice person, I guess.

Oh, and Haley was asking on her blog what people's favorite words are. Mine is "gunnu," which is a combination of "going to." I love it, it makes me smile (kinda like the way Summer gets when she deals in euchre). Feel free to tell me what your favorite words are.

Yes Ma'am!

Cheri says I need to update my blog, so that's what the following nonsense is for.

So today and yesterday, I've gone to the church to help with quilting. I'm not a seamstress at all (ask Rick Davidson about the really pathetic camoflauge heart-shaped pillow I made for him), so I refuse to do any sewing, but I'm helping with what I can.

I have my really ugly new haircut in pigtails today, because that's what I felt like doing with it.

Tomorrow, I'm going to a bridal shower for a girl from our church. It should be fun. I'm excited to see if Joanna has any good news about her mysterious date with Jesse tonight.

That's about it. Enjoy, Cheri!
