This past Saturday, we were able to go to an LA Kings game (that's hockey, for those of you who don't know) - get this - FOR FREE! It was military appreciation day, so earlier in the week, Grant picked up our tickets on base. I wasn't sure how Kendall would like it, because of how noisy it would be, but she loved it!
After the game, we went to this place called Philippe's, which is where the french dip sandwich began. We're big Food Network and Travel Channel people, and we kept seeing this place pop up. So, since it wasn't too far from the Staples Center, we thought after the game would be the perfect time to go.
So did everyone else in LA, apparently. We waited in line for about 45 minutes before we got our food. It's not fun standing in a line that's not moving, holding a squirmy toddler who just wants to get down and run around. But it was cool, the food was good, and we'd go back - but at a less busy time.
Looks fun and yummy! As it happens, I'm making French Dip for dinner. I'm sure it won't rival Philippe's. Once when Chad and I were dating I took French Dip over to his place for dinner. His roommate from France thought it was very funny that we called it French, but he admitted that it looked like somethig the "paysans" might eat.
ReplyDeletejill, i had never had a french dip before, but these were really good! oh, and rumor has it, that the sandwich got its name from a police officer, who's last name was french. they were making his sandwich, and they accidentally dropped his bread in the au jus. instead of making another one, he said he would just take that one. yes, i know alot of useless information. :)
ReplyDeleteHey! This is Eric's sister-Beth! I've been following your blog since Ryan died. I'm the Indianapolis, IN on your ticker. I have 2 things to say: #1 I love your new layout #2 I'm very jealous that you are wearing short sleeves in your pix. I can't wait for spring!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Kendall looks so happy, as usual! Still can't believe how fast her hair is growing!!! We miss you all.
ReplyDeletebeth! thanks for leaving a comment! it's always fun to find out who's reading.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised Mr. J hasn't said anything yet--I told him you guys went to a King's game and he was like "Military appreciation day, right?" He watched it on our computer.
ReplyDelete"Hockey" is one of Heidi's latest words--she says it when she sees Daddy's laptop.
I hadn't commented because I was upset about the poor showing my team put forth for the fine men and women of the US Military.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to witness such poorly played hockey.
